Study Design: Researchers fed rats a high-fat diet until they became obese, then gave them pineapple juice (15% in drinking water) for 8 weeks. Some obese rats continued eating high-fat food with juice, while others switched to normal food with juice. Controls received no juice. Main Findings: Pineapple juice significantly reduced body weight (18-23% decrease), shrunk fat cells by 55-84%, and improved blood lipid levels in obese rats. The juice decreased "bad" cholesterol and increased "good" cholesterol. It also normalized obesity-related hormones like leptin and insulin. Next step: Human clinical trials are essential to validate if human metabolism will work the same.
